Underground Charge Up Operator - Kalgoorlie

JOHNEX explosives are a 100% Australian owned manufacturer and distributor of innovative explosives. Our Kalgoorlie, WA operation is currently seeking a locally based, dynamic, self-motivated person to complement our team.

As a successful charge up operator with Johnex, some of the duties you would primarily be responsible for are:

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of Johnex
  • Support the efficient operation of the underground mining systems and processes by providing reliable and accurate operational knowledge in order to minimise downtime;
  • Working in a safe manner in order to achieve the production goals of the mine;
  • Fulfil the Shotfirer and Dangerous Goods and Explosives handling statutory obligations

Essential Criteria for this role:

  • 2 years’ experience in underground operations;
  • Underground charge up experience essential
  • Experience with the use of emulsion in blasting is preferred
  • Dangerous Goods and Working at Heights Ticket is required;
  • Valid “C” WA drivers licence essential;
  • HR/MC drivers license preferred
  • WA shotfirers license preferred

Dangerous Goods Driver and Yard Hand - Kalgoorlie

JOHNEX explosives are a 100% Australian owned manufacturer and distributor of innovative explosives. Our Kalgoorlie, WA operation is currently seeking a locally based, dynamic, self-motivated person to complement our team as a Dangerous Goods Driver and Yard Hand.

As a successful Dangerous Goods Driver and Yard Hand within JOHNEX, some of the duties you would primarily be responsible for, are:

  • Transport Bulk Emulsion, Gassers, Explosives, Dangerous Goods and general freight in JOHNEX’s Mobile Processing Vehicles and other assets. (Driving of Transfer vehicles, Normet (or similar UG Carrier) and light vehicles on surface and underground mine sites and public roads as required)
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of JOHNEX MPUs, forklifts, trucks, trailers or similar assets.
  • Cleaning and maintaining depot assets (Trucks, tanks, yard, compressors, other equipment etc.)
  • Conduct stock takes after each product movement and monitor inwards goods deliveries when unloading (Ensure correct stock control at JOHNEX and client operations)
  • Completing daily reports, log books including loading and maintenance sheets (example pre-starts, delivery documents)
  • Daily and ad-hoc equipment maintenance and servicing
  • Quality assurance checks and reporting
  • Ensure correct signage and placarding is used
  • Following safety and emergency procedures including safe management of dangerous goods spills, fire or major vehicle accident
  • Undertake ongoing training to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Flexibility in approach to hours of work to meet Business deadlines. Availability to work on Weekends or complete deliveries whereby you may be away from home for an extended period
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with team members and customers

Essential Criteria for this role:

  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • 12 months experience in a similar role in a mining environment
  • Current Dangerous Goods Security Clearance (or the state/territory equivalent)
  • Current Dangerous Goods driver’s license
  • Police clearance (less than 6 months old)
  • Australian HR Class Drivers License (MC desirable or willingness to obtain)
  • Relevant site licenses (desirable)
  • Mobile Processing Unit (MPU) operator’s qualification or experience (desirable)
  • Australian shot-firers ticket (desirable)
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol screening
  • Ability to pass mine site medical assessment for fitness

Maintenance Handyman

JOHNEX explosives are a 100% Australian owned manufacturer and distributor of innovative explosives.

JOHNEX’s Kalgoorlie WA operation is currently seeking a dynamic, self-motivated person to complement its manufacturing team. Ideally, this role would suit an experienced maintenance handyman with the ability for electrical fault finding. Some basic fabrication/welding experience would be an advantage. With these skills you will primarily be responsible for the maintenance of all plant and equipment on site.

You will also be required to coordinating/overseeing the scheduling of our fleet vehicle servicing requirements.

Successful applicants must be able to:

  • Demonstrate experience in maintenance support within an industrial setting;
  • Conduct fault finding for breakdowns and perform mechanical repairs and servicing on various plant and machinery;
  • Maintain stock of hydraulic, mechanical, electronic and pneumatic materials as per our spare parts checklist.
  • Complete mechanical checklists and weekly inspections of plant and machinery;
  • Carry out various types of welding repairs/fabrication as required.
  • Work in a team and alone to achieve successful results;

Qualifications & Experience

  • A recognised Australian Trade Certificate (Mechanical / Maintenance Trades);

As a successful Supply Officer within JOHNEX, some of the duties you would primarily be responsible for, are:

  • General administration duties (including filing, data entry, answering telephones and compiling payroll sheets). Experience with computerised accounting systems (Greentree), Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook are required.
  • Inventory control. You will be expected to conduct regular stock takes, maintain adequate stock levels, raise purchase orders, and ensure absolute accurate records are maintained. Physical fitness is essential as assisting the loading of pallets will be required.
  • Arranging Logistic requirements including the scheduling of deliveries and drivers in accordance with fatigue management policies and maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintain health and safety in the workplace. An enthusiastic approach to health and safety through upholding safety rules and policies, even whilst being involved in training programs, is vital.

Essential Criteria for this role:

Our Kalgoorlie operation is currently seeking a dynamic, self-motivated person to complement our team. This individual will primarily be responsible for the maintenance of all plant and equipment on site and the upkeep of our fleet vehicles.

Applicants must be able to:

  • Demonstrate experience in maintenance support within an industrial setting
  • Perform mechanical repairs, the service of various plant and machinery and conduct fault finding for breakdowns
  • Maintain stock of hydraulic, mechanical, electronic and pneumatic materials
  • Complete mechanical checklists and weekly inspections of plant and machinery
  • Perform planning tasks and other general duties as required

Qualifications & Experience

MPU Operators in Perth, Kalgoorlie & NSW


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Senior Technical Support Specialist, key responsibilities for this role include:

  • MPU explosive truck operation and calibration
  • Pre-start checking and post-job shutdown
  • Driving of MPU on mine site and public roads
  • Priming, MPU off siding and stemming operations, as required
  • Magazine stock control and audits
  • Completing density checks
  • Completing daily reports including load and run sheets
  • Daily and ad-hoc equipment maintenance and servicing
  • Quality assurance checks and reporting
  • Ensure correct signage and placarding is used
  • Work in accordance with safety regulations
  • Following safety and emergency procedures including safe management of dangerous goods spills, fire or major vehicle accident
  • Other duties as directed.

JOB SKILLS

  • Demonstrated use of Operator Interface Screens
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills with an ability to effectively communicate issues
  • Know MPU limits / Gross Vehicle Mass (site and road use)
